Chronology of cameras Office General de Photographie (Nadar)
The Office Général de la Photographie was founded by Paul Tournachon, also known as Paul Nadar (1856-1939), the son of Félix Tournachon, known as Nadar (1820-1910).
Paul quickly took charge of his father's workshop (gallery). When he started the equipment sales business, he didn't hesitate to use his father's signature, with his permission. The use of this logo continued even after his father had retired in 1887. Some cameras bear the name Nadar but are manufactured by a third party.
The 1888 or 1889 catalog features a photograph of the French chemist Michel-Eugène Chevreul on the cover, taken by Nadar in 1886 during an interview with the father and son.
Les chambres de voyage en 9 x 12 ne sont pas courantes, et ici ce choix est probablement lié à la possibilité d'y adapter un châssis-magasin à pellicule en 4"x 5" fourni par Eastman-Kodak.
Le catalogue prétend qu'elle sort des ateliers d'ébénisterie Nadar, mais cela reste à démontrer. On peut aussi se poser des questions sur la réalité de la double bascule évoquée dans l'annonce, et sur la signification de la "1/2 double bascule" de la description.
L'acajou verni, les voyages au long cours, les changements de climat et les températures extrêmes nous invitent à l'aventure, tels les riches yachtmen auxquels cette chambre était proposée...
